A weekend in Ashford Kent.
Stuck here until Tuesday morning, any decent pubs/restaurants/bars in town?

Cheers all,

Just seen this.
If your ever back that way the one stop on train to wye and the tickled trout pub by the river.
Decent beer and grub last time I was down that way.

A fair would be great, but I suppose you meant fare :-)

Bloody typo. I meant of course Sutton Valence.
It's also got the remains of a castle if that may interest you. Also with great views of The Weald

Re: A weekend in Ashford Kent.
Maidstone is only about 25 minutes away on the train and has loads of nice pubs,

eg for Real Ales:

The Flower Pot,
The First and Last
Ye Olde Thirsty Pig
Drakes
Nellie Gerkins doesn't do ale but the Guiness is sublime.

And from Maidstone, Sutton Vakence is about a 20 minute ride on the bus and there is The Queens Head which is a lovely pub with great beer and food snd a lovely view of the Weald.

Rye's very nice.
However Canterbury is about the same distance, and I would suggest somewhat livelier.
Also being the larger of the two will almost certainly have a bigger choice of brasses to murderize (if you get bored) ;-)

No nice pubs in Ashford. To be honest, it’s a bit of a shithole. The best thing about it is the fast train to Stratford.

If I were you I’d jump on the train to Rye and have drink there instead, only 20 mins away on the train. Theirs some decent bars and pubs and a few nice eateries as well. Also a nice ancient town with history.

Old Mill on the outskirts is a great place for decent food.

There is a Cineworld on the outskirts as well surrounded by the usual fair.

Strange old place Trashford

The town centre is awful, as Leroy said, the Outlet centre is probably your best bet..
